The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) established India's first 24x7 solar-powered fuel retail station, driven by Servotech, the other day in Kochi, boosting the state's sustainability activities. The Indian Oil Corporation has installed the country's first totally solar-powered fuel pump in Kochi. The project was inaugurated by IOCL Chairman Sanjiv Singh, accompanied by P S Mony, state head & chief general manager, IOCL, Kerala, who declared Kerala as the first totally automated state in India, with all IOCL functioning retail outlets being automated.

With an average monthly sales of 332 KL of petrol and 954 KL of diesel, the entirely green Jubilee Retail Store, Pongam, is also the highest selling IOCL outlet in Kerala, conveniently located on NH 544. As part of its sustainable development activities, IOCL has solarized 313 retail stores in Kerala.

The total solar power installed throughout these outlets is roughly 1.5 MW. The retail outlet's whole power requirement is met by the 50 KVA solar plants installed at a cost of 69 lakh.
