India’s first portable solar rooftop system ServPort installed in prominent public places in Gandhinagar, Gujarat under GIZ Project

Servotech Power Systems installed 40 portable solar rooftop systems ServPort in Swaminarayan Akshardham temple complex, NIFT, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, GSPC Bhawan, Indora Park and Arya Bhawan in Gandhinagar, Gujarat to help transform the city into a 100% Renewable Energy City. The installation of 40 ServPort systems of 2kWp each in Gandhinagar, Gujarat has been supported by the German development agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as a part of the German Environment Ministry’s ‘Integration of Renewable Energies in the Indian Electricity System’ project. The systems have been installed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s initiative to develop Renewable Energy cities across India.

The 40 ServPort systems across prominent public places in Gandhinagar demonstrate the use of solar power which would eventually assist in the upscaling and commercialisation of such systems and will complement Gandhinagar to effectively replace the conventional polluting fuels.
The Project cost around Rs. 1.20 Crore and generates 1.17 Lacs units worth of electricity every year. This ServPort system is highly cost-effective, requires low maintenance, has a long shelf life of 25-30 years, can be easily installed by a single person, and is ideal for the Indian climate. It is designed for 100% self-consumption and no power is fed into the grid. Unlike other conventional solar PV systems, the design of the ServPort system allows the space below the panels to be utilised. Each system leads to an average annual savings of Rs. 25,000 on electricity bills.
